Jean-Christophe Domec is the new editor-in-chief of Annals of Forest Science

We are pleased to announce the appointment of Jean-Christophe Domec as the new Editor‐in‐Chief of Annals of Forest Science from January 1, 2026 on. A smooth transition will be ensured with the former Editor-in-Chief, Erwin Dreyer, during the year 2026.
Dr Domec holds a Ph.D. in Forest Ecology & Wood Science from Oregon State University and is currently a distinguished professor of sustainable forestry at Bordeaux Sciences Agro in France, and a Visiting Professor at the Nicholas School of the Environment at Duke University in the USA. His research addresses plant water relations, ecosystem ecology and ecohydrology, with particular emphasis on long‐distance water transport in trees under climate change, drought tolerance and avoidance, and structural-functional trait coordination in forest systems. With an strong publication record (including articles in Annals of Forest Science), and a wide international collaboration network, Dr Domec brings his domain expertise to the journal. We look forward to his stewardship in guiding the journal into its next phase, fostering rigorous, high-impact research in forest & wood science, and connecting authors, reviewers and readers across the global forest-science community.
We welcome Jean-Christophe Domec as Editor-in-Chief of Annals of Forest Science. He will bring a new momentum to the ongoing efforts of the journal towards all aspects of Open Science, and develop new initiatives in this direction. His commitment will help Annals of Forest Science to develop despite the current context of severe competition among journals. He will focus in particular on the quality requirements for publication in the journal and on the respect of scientific integrity in science editing.
