Agriculture highly influences atmospheric CO<sub>2<\/sub> because plants and soils can sequester CO<sub>2<\/sub> or release CO<sub>2<\/sub>. Researchers are thus trying to identify cropping practices, such as conservation tillage, that sequester CO<sub>2<\/sub> in plants and soils in order to decrease atmospheric CO<sub>2<\/sub> levels.
